Plot Ideas
« Thread started on: Jun 30th, 2006, 08:25am » |

First of all, I know I actually have to start replying to threads here before I have ANY right to be posting plot ideas, but seriously - I'll be back. Soon. Hopefully tonight.
That said, I had some other plot ideas that I was going to do independantly, but if anyone else was interested, they can certainly join in. - Rescued fighting pits. I'm actually going to be doing what will probably become a long ass closed thread called "Life of Pit" for one of my characters. However, I wouldn't mind seeing bait dogs, bait animals, other fighting dogs, etc. rescued in another thread. Obviously, all three categories could have some really interesting personalities coming out of it. It also gives you a good opprotunity to join a character that really 'evolves' over time as he/she recovers and begins to learn what a real life is. - Battery Hens. Farmed chickens are on the limited list (as opposed to game-fowl or other fighting breeds, which are heartier), so this would be a good opprotunity to get 'em while you can. They have many unique challenges, particularly those posed by de-beaking. I'm thinking it would be nice if they spent some time at a rescue/recovery place then were shipped off to liberated. It would definately shell-shock them all to go from the lap of luxury to a place where they have to forage for food and fight for dominance. If you don't know what battery hens are, I suggest clicking here or here for picture, text, and video, but I warn you some photos are graphic. - Rabbits. Specifically, domesticated rabbits. Not sure how yet, but we need some, because think of the totally badass warrens. I'm thinking animal hoarder, pet store, feeders, meat rabbits - something. Maybe everything. Further insight eagerly accepted. - Dyed fish. Its an abhorrently cruel practice, you get to join characters with nifty colors (though they fade over time), there's a good opprotunity for physical and psychological anguish, and frankly I'd just love to see some pet store carrying these things get vandalized as fuck. I think its a personal fantasy, really. Anyways, if you need info on dyed fish, click here. It lists what species are sometimes dyed, though glass fish, tetras, and the like seem the most common. - Premarin mares and foals! Need I say more?
Oh yeah - I should probably put this under site suggestions, but would it help everyone when joining characters or plot lines if the species list had links to the type of animal cruelty practice noted? I'm not sure if everyone just knows off the top of their head exactly what the animal they're interested in goes through, and I'm thinking if the info is there, people might be interested in a wider range of species. That, and I don't expect anyone who isn't a rabid animal welfare freak to just know all there is to know about every single cruelty practice out there.

Why not a pet store plot in general?
It would account for the rabbits and dyed fish, and in addition to that other species could fall in as well, such as puppy mill dogs, abandoned cats, screwed up bettas kept in bowls, neurotic birds, the occasional reptile, rodents there purely for snake food, exotics with issues... Yes, the pet store near my area is messed up, if you were wondering Anyway, so yeah, I'm interested in the rabbits and fish, though I will suck RPing the latter xP
I'm all for battery hens, though I would also be excited if we extended that to other factory farm animals as well. And I'll take some bait animals or something from the rescued pits.
And honestly, a list of the cruelty practices would be wonderful. I only really know about factory farming, circuses, and a small bit about laboratories and testing. And even there I feel like I get everything all messed up. X.x

Oooh, pet store works. ::Nods:: I kindof wanted to play some doofed up pet store critters anyways, and that'd def. cover the fish, rabbits, etc. that I have planned.
As for battery hens, I just have that as a plot because of all the animals, they'd probably need the most work before release, hence it being a more nice sanctuary to scary wilderness plot than a cage to freedom plot. But if you have any other factory farmed critters ya wanna play and want to start a plot, please do!
For the pit bulls, as said, I'm making a long ass character development NI post for Pit. However, I might join a bait dog/general bait animal (rat, raccoon, whatever).
I'm def. doing premarin if anyone else is interested - I'm thinking a bunch of foals and a few overtaxed mares trying to take care of them. Should make for the oddest herd ever.
Neurotic bettas... FINBITERS! Yay! ((Lovers neurotic finbiters thanks to owning like... 5 of them. Shit happens when you get all of your fish strictly as rescues. hahaha))
I'll probably be joining goldfish from a carnival eventually. Since GF/FC have little hope of building a strong aquatic, reptillian, and amphibian base, since everyone allready has so many mammals and birds, I'm hoping to have this site be a little more balanced, hence my open acceptance of plots with pretty much ANY kind of animal. Heh.

Awesome. That opens me up for so many characters and species, it's scary
That's fine, though I may start a factory farming plot on my own -- Really, I just want a few cows and maybe a pig or two, so I could always just join them as already liberated if I really wanted to.
Again, fine by me -- If no one else wants neurotic pits or something, then I could just have more already liberated critters.
I don't really have much attachment to fish. I stopped owning them years ago, since I could never keep them alive. I can't remember what happened to the first one, but the second goldfish died when my father made a goof when changing her water, and the third one, which I won at a carnival, got fin rot or something and croaked. Gave up after that, figuring that the fish really shouldn't have to deal with a stupid owner.
Heh, I'm perfectly willing to have different species -- Aren't I always? It's almost an obession

And my first thought at reading that was "I have to beat that!" Which means I'll have to join over sixteen characters at once. Oh dear o.o

Ok, so, how does anyone involved want this to go? I personally wouldn't mind seeing some character development in the pet store - a few days of lousy care, animals being sold and returned, accidents, wet tail, etc. For the battery hens, either the factory farm or the sanctuary thereafter would be good. I like the idea of starting in the farm for character development, but if it'd take too long, that's cool. The pit bull plot can go wherever anyone wants, and I'm not sure anyone but me is doing the premarin yet... rofl.

I'm all for the pet store first -- I still need to really develop some characters, so that'd be great. Maybe it would be a strange way to have one of my cats lose her leg too -- The owners return the cat with an injured/missing leg. Hmmm. Anyway, starting in the farm sounds ace for me chicken-wise, though I still have to get my characters for that. I'm not particular about the pit bulls, though starting in the craptacular arena or something would be great for character development. *shrug* Up to anyone else who is involved in this.

Wanna kick off the pet store plot? ::wriggles brows:: I'd love to see more plots on that board not started by me; I wanna see what someone else's intro post would be like, and you're a super-talented writer, so I know it'd rock.

I'll also head over to VR ither tonight and tomorrow and catch up there too. I was only abhle to finish GF/FC tonight.
Time to catch up here as much as possible before my friend comes over for the night...

The post is up now. Ignored the messed up italics halfway through -- It's screw ups like that that make me tempted to stop using italics and use symbols instead. Going to go join my battery hens now.
